i’ve always been a poet, so to speak. i grew up with a strong appreciation for nature, art and food. growing up, i remember school breaks – when my family would pack up the van and we’d head to yosemite national park – to go camping and hiking. i also remember nightly family dinners (sadly, an almost extinct activity) – for which my brother and i split most of the cooking duties – and explains how i’ve been cooking for more than 30 years.
when i went to college, i had hoped to serve my community by becoming a politician. ultimately, i took a different path (several, actually), but the desire to serve people never left me. i spent years seeking inspiration – and a purpose. in fact, i traveled to some of the most beautiful places in the world – tibet, nepal, antarctica to name a few – and, while those places inspired me, the feeling was always fleeting. it was only when i went to business school that i finally connected the dots – combining this desire to give back – with my lifelong passion for food.
my food philosophy has been an evolutionary process. over the years, i’ve become more interested in where our food comes from and how it’s produced. i’m deeply concerned about how overly-processed some of our everyday foods are, in addition to all the sugar, fat, salt, dyes, additives and preservatives they contain. and so i set out to create bold, exciting products that reduce these elements – while not sacrificing flavor. my goal is to create awesome, tasty food products for you – food that focuses on fresh, all-natural, organic and sustainable methods wherever possible, while minimizing processed ingredients as much as possible. i want to make honest food. genuine food. i’m a firm believer that this approach is a positive step in our ability to eat better. and if we eat better, then we’ll feel healthier. and if we feel healthier, then we’ll be happier. and if we feel happier, then world peace is right around the corner. ok, that last part is a stretch, but you know what i mean… 🙂
